Alan Greenberg and Howard Brodsky founded CCA Global Partners® in 1984 with a trailblazing vision in mind—to be a significant force in the floor-covering industry while still maintaining autonomy for independent flooring retailers.

Greenberg and Brodsky launched Carpet One Floor & Home as this pioneering organization’s first (and still largest) division.

History of CCA

From our earliest days as a thirteen-member cooperative of flooring retailers to a global company with diverse businesses and best-in-class programs, CCA Global Partners® has forged a successful path for thousands of independent businesses and earned its reputation as an industry leader and global cooperative innovator.

CCA Global Founders

1984

Alan Greenberg and Howard Brodsky founded CCA Global Partners in 1984 with an ambitious vision in mind – to create a unique solution that would enable independent flooring retailers to operate profitably while maintaining their autonomy.

Carpet One Logo

1985

In 1985, Carpet One is established (now known as Carpet One Floor & Home) with 13 members. By year’s end, retail sales volume for Carpet One’s 26 members reaches $25 million.

1986

Carpet One members collectively are the nation’s No. 1 floor-covering retail group.

ProSource logo

1991

ProSource (now known as ProSource Wholesale), a closed showroom, wholesale floor covering company catering to commercial developers, designers, real estate brokers, and installers, is launched.

Stone Mountain's Flooring Outlet Logo

1993

Carpet Co-op of America creates Stone Mountain’s Flooring Outlet as a new brand focused on value pricing.

Carpet One Australia Logo

1994

Carpet One begins to look outside the US for growth opportunities. In Carpets, based in Queensland, Australia, becomes the first non–North American member of Carpet One.

1995

The cooperative expands with the launch of Carpet One Canada.

Carpet One celebrates its 10th anniversary with 525 retail store members, which have aggregate annual sales of $1.5 billion.

International Design Guild Logo

1995

International Design Guild launches, catering to interior designers and discriminating consumers by providing quality flooring from around the world.

New Zealand flag

1996

In 1996, Carpet One again expands internationally to include licensees in New Zealand.

America's Carpet Gallery

1998

Carpet Co-op of America purchases America’s Carpet Gallery, which brings 143 stores in forty states to the cooperative.

2000

Carpet Co-op of America purchases certain assets of franchisors Flooring America and Flooring Canada, which are recast as a cooperative.

2000

Stone Mountain’s Carpet Mill Outlet acquires the franchise of 93 units of GCO Carpet Outlet.

Carpet Co-op of America changes its name to CCA Global Partners!

Lighting One Logo

2001

CCA Global Partners acquires certain assets of national lighting company, Ilucio, and forms Lighting One.

Flooring Covering Industry Foundation Check

2003

CCA Global Partners starts a charity golf tournament for the Floor Covering Industry Foundation.

The Biking Solution logo

2003

CCA Global Partners expands into the biking industry with a new affiliated company, The Biking Solution, now called The Bike Cooperative.

CCA Global Partners creates the CCA Relief Fund. Its mission is to provide assistance to employees of CCA members and franchisees victimized by natural disasters.

American Heart Association Go Red for Women

2005

Flooring America joins forces with the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement.

CCA Global Partners announces with great sadness that Alan Greenberg, Co-founder, Co-Chairman, and Co-CEO of CCA Global Partners, passed away August 28th after a courageous battle with cancer.

CCA Global Partners makes a pledge to be an environmentally conscious company with the launch of the “Green Select®” initiative, committing to better the environment through their relationships with their member community, suppliers, and employees.

Rick Bennet

2008

Rick Bennet is named Co-Chief Executive Officer of CCA Global Partners. A retail industry veteran,  Bennet has experience that spans domestic and international multi-unit businesses and complex organizations, generating annual revenues ranging from $500  million to $14 billion.

2008

BizUnite (now Savings4Members) is launched as an independent business platform and is a tool that helps businesses compete with their larger competitors.

CCA for Social Good logo

2008

CCA For Social Good is launched as a new division to create smart systems that help nonprofit and childcare organizations realize the benefits of scale by unlocking resources than can be invested in advancing their missions.

2009

Howard Brodsky and Alan Greenberg are inducted into the Cooperative Hall of Fame.  They are cooperative pioneers who dedicated themselves to helping independent business owners and entrepreneurs succeed. As Co-Founders of CCA Global Partners, they used cooperative strategies to empower independent businesses and in so doing created a unique, flexible business model that can adapt across industries, markets and countries.

Carpet One 25th Anniversary

2010

Carpet One Floor & Home celebrates a quarter-century of success. Founded in 1985 as a 13-member group, the company flourished over its first 25 years, expanding to nearly 1,000 stores.

CCA Global Partners seizes new opportunity in community management and establishes Innovia Community Management Cooperative.

2012

CCA Global Partners’ new division – Lionsbridge Contractor Group – bridges the gap between policyholders, insurance companies, and contractors.

Tunnels to Towers history

2014

Carpet One Floor & Home partners with the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation to support the Building for America’s Bravest program which builds “smart homes” for catastrophically injured service members.

Cooperatives For A Better World

2015

CCA Global Partners, led by Co-CEO Howard Brodsky, spearheads initiative to promote cooperatives throughout the world called Cooperatives for a Better World.

Floor Trader Outlet logo

2015

The Floor Trader rebrands as The Floor Trader Outlet, changing from a franchise model to a cooperative.

Savings 4 Members logo

2016

BizUnite rebrands to Savings4Members and continues to grow and provide significant business savings to organizations and independent retailers across North America.

Kiba Studios Logo

2018

Kiba Studios is launched as a unique store within a store kitchen and bath business, allowing for CCA retail divisions to diversify their business.

Gold Star Family Home Program

2020

Flooring America and Flooring Canada partner with the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation to support the Gold Star Family Home Program, honoring the legacy of those who made the ultimate sacrifice by providing mortgage-free homes to surviving spouses with young children.

Howard Brodsky

2022

Visionary Co-founder and Co-CEO of CCA Global Partners, Howard Brodsky, retires after four decades. He remains chairperson of the CCA Board of Directors.

2023

The Retail Group at CCA Global Partners achieves a milestone in home improvement retail by executing one of the most expansive rollouts in history. The introduction of Retail 2.0 revolutionizes the customer experience in retail flooring.
